We are privileged to have this concourse condition NG TD with very interesting background. It was built by Alan Morgan & Peter Coxhead of Kit Car magazine and was featured in a 3 part article showing the complete build. It was then displayed at the National Kit Car Show at Stoneleigh and featured on their stand. We have full documentation and the magazine articles showing what went into it.
It is finished in un-marked carnival red with contrasting luxury tan interior. Also included is the rear seat option. Full weather gear incl. tonneau and hood cover in beige. You will see from the photos that the car is fitted with Brooklands aero screens which have been mounted on an alloy base plate. This sets them up higher and does give some protection from the elements. However, should you prefer a conventional windscreen allowing use of the hood, then that is included as well and we will swap it over for you if required. (wiper shafts and motor are already there).
Fitted with completely re-built MGB 1.8 litre 4 cylinder engine with twin SU carbs. and reconditioned 4 speed gearbox with o/drive. 15" knock on wire wheels with new Firestone tyres, including the spare. Twin spot lamps with mesh grilles. Cycle wings, heater, special order rear stone guards. Also included is an interesting MG/ NG number plate. There is a huge history file including original sales literature. This car has had a lot of money spent on it and has been lovingly maintained in tip top condition by the last owner. The actual mileage recorded includes 49,000 miles from the donor vehicle which must be disregarded. (Fully documented). It has actually travelled 6,000 miles.
This is a superb example, designed by the legendary engineer Nick Green, (Hence the initials NG). It is a very rare opportunity to acquire a car with this much provenance & excellent investment potential. Free road tax in UK or easy export as an `Old Timer`. Early inspection a must.

If you are looking for something with incredible handling & performance then this could be for you. With near perfect balance from the mid-mounted Rover K series 1.8 VVC engine and producing circa 143 bhp you can see why these cars perform so well on road or track. In fact GTM were the first to fit this engine (before Lotus & Aerial). 0-60 in under 6 secs. Weight is 900 kgs. and a 5 speed gearbox completes the package. This example is believed to have been factory built and is finished in bright blue coachwork with sporty lightweight 'Sabelt Racing' seats. Heater and Pioneer CD/stereo. Mohair hood. Twin wishbones at the front and trailing arms at the rear with Gaz adjustable shock absorbers. 16" 5 spoke alloys by KN with Good Year Eagle tyres (matching spare has never been used). Vented discs, 'Hi Spec' calipers with 'Green Stuff' pads. Sabelt sports steering wheel. Power steering. The cockpit is surprisingly roomy and will accomodate taller drivers. Heater. Chrome roll bar. Chrome fire extinguisher, spot lamps.
Based on the enormously successful GTM Libra, the Spyder has a few minor mods. to allow for the convertible hood but still enjoys spectacular handling characteristics. Now under the ownership of Westfield Sports Cars, we are expecting to see the car re-launched next year but with a higher price tag! So treat yourself now to the best value sports car for the money. |

Only 122 spyders were produced by the Ferrari factory of which only 7 were right hand drive. A few Berlinettas got converted to spyders during the boom years when these cars were worth £millions. It was voted top sports car of the 1970's by Sports Car International and frequently voted best Ferrari of all time by other leading journalists, easily outstripping its rivals the Lamborghini Muira and Masserati Ghibli. It featured in many classic films and tv series like The Gumball Rally and Miami Vice and of course Top Gear raced one along the south coast of France against a boat! On the track the car enjoyed success at Le Mans & Daytona itself.
There have been several companies producing replicas over the years and this example by RS (Richard Stewart) is about as good as they get. The project was 4 years in the making and is accurate to within 2 mm of the original. A huge history portfolio supports this project from the beginning and documents everything right up to a recent £8,000 refurbishment which included a new mohair roof and sat nav with tracker.
This factory built car is finished in Rosso red with correct black & tan leather upholstery. Instrumentation is correct with sliders for heating controls. Alcantara dashboard top. The engine fitted is Jaguar's V12 5.3 litre unit with manual 5 speed gearbox. In built fire extinguisher system. Everything has been badged as Ferrari including the dust caps! 15" Ferrari style alloys with Pirelli P600 tyres. Power steering. Electric windows, woodrim steering wheel. Quad exhaust tail pipes. Many original Ferrari parts fitted.
This car is superb and authentic in every respect. It will get you noticed and invited to many `A list` parties. These replicas change hands for anything up to £50,000. Incredible value when you consider the cost of a real one, not to mention maintenance and insurance costs.. The last one we had went to an oil baron inTexas! This car is a credit to its previous owners and is the best one we've owned. |
